Dazzly is a little gem: it’s a colour-by-numbers app that uses photorealistic gemstones instead of flat colours. You can colour everything from inspirational posters to pictures of beautiful jewellery, high fashion and cats. It’s a fantastic way to relax, with some of the more detailed images taking many happy hours to complete.

What we love: How satisfying it is to slot each glimmering gemstone into the correct space! In the more detailed images, you don’t need to tap every spot individually: where a design requires lots of gems of the same colour, you can swipe your finger and leave a trail of jewels in its wake.

Quick tip: One of the best ways to get really immersed in Dazzly is to pop in your headphones and toggle on Music in the app’s settings. This provides a gentle soundtrack that’s great for quiet concentration. The music pauses when your screen locks and resumes when you unlock it.

Meet the creator: Carole Liefke, co-founder of app studio Geode, studied art history, costume design and gemmology and has designed jewellery and accessories for both haute couture and showbiz clients. Dazzly is a showcase for the company’s patented GeodeFX system, which mixes digital photography and computer graphics.
