BodyTree: Calisthenics
Master Calisthenics Skills
Only for iPhone
Free · In-App Purchases · Designed for iPhone. Not verified for macOS.
Legs day has a back half. Two new progressions, step-ups and hamstring curls, mean every session pairs a squat with real hip-dominant work instead of two squats.
BodyTree gives you a clear path from zero to advanced calisthenics. No gym required.
Built on proven calisthenics progression principles, BodyTree maps 261 exercises across 35 skill branches into a visual skill tree. Each exercise unlocks the next, so you always know where you stand and what to train next. An adaptive Training Coach picks what to work on next, and 100+ flexibility, mobility, and rehab routines keep you training without breaking down.
What makes it different:
- Start training in seconds. Do a real first rep in a guided Day 0 session before any setup, and your skill tree and first week of training are built from the moves you just did
- One Today card tells you what to do next: today's workout, a make-up session, or recovery. Your daily check-in, weekly mission, next skill, and rehab plan sit one glance below as simple rings
- A visual skill tree showing your full progression path: push, pull, legs, core, and skills
- 261 exercises from beginner fundamentals to advanced moves like planche, front lever, and handstand
- Legs work that covers both halves: every session pairs a knee-dominant move like a squat or pistol with hip-dominant work from the step-up and hamstring curl lines
- Live Form Check: point your camera at yourself and BodyTree auto-times your isometric holds with a real-time skeleton overlay
- A Training Coach that adapts to your progress and picks the right branch to focus on next
- Stuck on a rep count? Run a Grease the Groove block: test your max, then log 6 to 10 easy sets a day right from your lock screen while your regular plan skips what the block already covers
- Every session explains itself. See why today's workout looks the way it does, what each block builds toward, and why every exercise made the cut
- Auto-generated programs based on your goals and weekly availability, with warmups that match your level
- Flexible scheduling: train ahead or make up a missed workout on any rest day, and your streak stays intact
- Flexibility and mobility sessions with built-in rest, exercise demos, and hold-timer audio cues so you can focus, not watch a stopwatch
- Rehab tracks for tendon and joint issues, built on clinical rehab references. Your plan lives on your home screen, and training can automatically go easier on exercises that stress the recovering area
- A Community feed of proof clips people chose to share, playing as you scroll. Search for other athletes, follow the ones you want, and filter the feed to just them. Sharing is per video and off by default, so you decide what the world sees. Every clip is checked before it appears, you can pull one back out of the tab whenever you change your mind, and you can report or block anything you'd rather not see
- Log sets, reps, and holds, and watch your progress build over time
- Progress Analytics with personal records, training trends, and workout history export. A written recap reads your last twelve weeks back to you and names any lift that has stopped moving, so a number stuck in place for a month finally says so
- Milestone moments at day 14, 30, and 100 to mark how far you've come
- Train anywhere: a park, a gym, or your living room
Whether you're doing your first push-up or chasing your first muscle-up, BodyTree keeps the next step always in front of you.

more This one is all speed. Two freezes are gone: the confirmation sound that could lock the screen for a second every time you logged a set, and a slow first read at launch that could stall the opening screen. Nothing changes in how you train. It just stops getting in your way.
Logging a set no longer freezes the app. The confirmation sound was setting up its audio on the same thread that draws the screen, and it did that again on every single play.
Starting a hold is instant again, for the same reason.
Opening the app no longer stalls on the first screen. Your saved streak is now read ahead of time instead of while that screen is being drawn.
A dropped connection no longer files an error report. A request that times out is not a fault in the app, and those reports were burying the ones that are.
2.14.1 17 Sept
Legs day has a back half now. Two new progressions join the squat line: Lunges & Step-Ups, running from a plain lunge up to deep step-ups, and Hamstring Curls, running from a glute bridge up to glute-ham raises. That is 10 new moves and the first hip-dominant work the tree has ever carried, so every legs session now pairs a squat with a hip-dominant move instead of a squat with an easier squat. Update now and keep climbing.
Two new legs progressions: Lunges & Step-Ups, from a plain lunge to deep step-ups, and Hamstring Curls, from a glute bridge to glute-ham raises.
Every legs session now programs one knee-dominant move and one hip-dominant move, both at full sets and reps. Leave your goals alone and the second slot rotates across both new lines through the week. Name a legs goal and every session stays on it.
Fixed the same leg exercise turning up twice in one block after you tapped Easier. Reps are tracked per exercise, so logging a set into one row was filling in the other. Programs that already ended up this way repair themselves.
Your tree completion percentage may dip a little. The catalog grew from 251 moves to 261, so the same number of unlocked moves is now measured against a bigger tree.
2.14.0 13 Sept
Community now explains itself before you post to it, not after. The first time you choose Community for a clip, a short sheet tells you exactly who can watch it and what belongs there, and a clip held for review can now be approved and kept personal so the rep still counts without the video going public. The Community tab also scrolls smoothly now, and clips play silently so your own music keeps going. Grease the Groove gets a permanent home in Settings and stops re-asking once you have dismissed it. Update now and keep climbing.
Open Grease the Groove any time from Settings under Training, instead of waiting for the plateau card to turn up. If a block is already running, that row shows it.
Dismissing the plateau card now keeps that exercise quiet for two weeks. A different stalled move can still speak up the same day.
A clip held for review can be approved and kept personal: your rep counts toward the progression, the video stays in your Proof Grid, and nothing reaches the Community tab.
Choosing Community for the first time brings up a short sheet on who can see the clip, that clips are checked before they appear, and what to wear.
Community videos play silently now, and there is no sound toggle. Your own music or podcast keeps playing while you scroll, and a proof reads the same way without audio. Clips you record from now on are saved without a sound track.
Fixed the Community tab stalling as you scrolled between clips. Preparing audio for each video was holding up the screen, twice over, and the feed no longer does that work at all.
Fixed the video trim not reaching the upload: the clip you trim before submitting is the clip that gets saved.
Fixed an issue where the prompt to share your older clips came back on every launch after you had already answered it.
2.13.0 7 Sept
Cheer on the Community. After voting on a video you can now add a quick phrase to it: encouragement after Accomplished (Clean lockout, Great body line) or a cue after Needs work (Watch the hip sag, Steady the tempo). Phrases show on the post, so the athlete knows exactly what landed.
Smoother scrolling in the Community tab. Swiping between videos could briefly freeze the screen while the next clip took over; the feed now hands playback across without ever blocking your swipe. Your music keeps playing the whole time, same as before.
Profiles open fully loaded instead of flashing placeholder details first.
2.12.1 5 Sept
Stuck on a rep count that will not move? This update adds Grease the Groove: a guided two-week block that breaks plateaus by spreading easy sets across your whole day instead of cramming them into one session. Paired sets now alternate properly too, so a normal workout finishes sooner.
- New: Grease the Groove blocks. Test your max once, then do 6 to 10 easy sets a day, spaced across a time window you choose
- Log a set right from the reminder on your lock screen, no need to open the app
- Your regular workouts automatically skip exercises the block already covers, so you never double up
- BodyTree spots a stalled exercise and suggests a block when the timing is right
- Finish with a retest: every rep past your old max counts toward your next unlock
- New: paired push and pull exercises now alternate set by set. One side recovers while the other works, so the rest between them is shorter and the session takes less time. Switch it off in Settings if you prefer straight sets
- Fixed: paired exercises used to take a shorter rest without alternating, which left you 30 seconds less recovery than everything else. They now carry the full rest unless you actually switch between them
- Fixed: some plans were missing exercises you had already unlocked. If your assessment credited you with pull-ups or handstand push-ups, they are back in your program
- Fixed: opening Community no longer stops the music you were listening to
- You can now swap an exercise before a workout starts, straight from the session preview
- Train now tells you which skill your plan is holding back and which exercise unlocks it, instead of leaving it out with no explanation
2.12.0 5 Sept
Three tabs, one glance each.
Train now opens with your week at a glance and a single Today card that tells you exactly what to do next: start today's workout, catch up on one you missed, or wind down with a recovery routine. Your daily check-in, weekly mission, next skill and recovery plan sit underneath as simple rings. The Skill Tree became a flat index you can scan in one pass, and Flex now leads with the goals you have bookmarked. Update now and keep climbing.
• One Today card on Train says what to do next, with the full session plan one tap deeper
• Your streak moved to the top of Train, so the flame and week dots greet you at launch
• The Skill Tree lists every branch on one screen with its ring, level and progress
• Flex leads with your goals, showing your next stretch and estimated reach date
• Sharing a proof now uploads in the background, and your followers get a notification
• Bug fixes and performance improvements
2.11.0 3 Sept
Your training, in plain English.
Progress Analytics used to hand you six charts and leave you to work out the story. Now it opens with your last twelve weeks written out: the sets you logged, how that compares with the twelve weeks before, how closely you are keeping to your schedule, and what you unlocked along the way. It also names the exercises that have stopped moving, because a lift stuck on the same number for a month is the one thing a bar chart is worst at telling you. Update now and keep climbing.
• Training Recap reads your last twelve weeks back to you, in sentences (Pro)
• Stalled lifts get called out by name, with a suggestion for breaking through
• Every figure comes straight from the sets you logged
• Proof videos are capped at 30 seconds whether you record one or pick one from your library
• Changes we make on our side reach you when you reopen the app, not only after a full restart
2.9.0 27 Aug
Nothing you earn should go missing.
If a proof upload failed at the very last step, the video was stranded and you got nothing back: no proof, no progress. Those are found and finished for you now, so the proof lands and the skill unlocks the way it should have. Every proof already lost this way has been recovered. Signing in with Apple is steadier too. Update now and keep climbing.
• A proof stranded at the last step is finished for you instead of quietly disappearing
• The skill it earned unlocks the way it should have the first time
• Proofs lost to this before the fix have been found and put back
• Signing in with Apple no longer fails if you tap the button again before the first attempt finishes
• Bug fixes and performance improvements
2.8.5 26 Aug
You can take a video back.
Every clip in the Community tab now carries its own menu. On your own videos that means Remove from Community, which pulls the clip out of the tab while it stays on your profile and your skill tree, and Delete proof for when you want it gone altogether. Sharing has been per video and off by default since Community launched, and now changing your mind is just as easy. Recording a proof also stops getting refused before it is even sent. Update now and keep climbing.
• Remove a video from Community, or delete it outright, from the menu on your own clip
• Report and Block are reachable on every card, including a feed showing only your own videos
• Proof videos are compressed before they upload on Android, so a clip from your gallery no longer sends hundreds of megabytes
• An upload that fails at the last step no longer leaves your video stranded with nothing to show for it
• Bug fixes and performance improvements
2.8.3 23 Aug
Everything community, in one place.
The Community tab picks up the three controls that used to sit on a separate screen behind your profile: search for other athletes, a filter for everyone or only the people you follow, and the switch that makes your profile public or private. That second screen is gone, so there is one Community instead of two. Your profile opens on your real level and picture now, rather than flashing Level 1 first. Update now and keep climbing.
• Search, filter and the public/private switch now live on the Community tab
• Filter the feed to everyone or only the athletes you follow, and it remembers your choice
• The duplicate Community screen behind your profile is gone
• Your profile shows your level, picture and stats the moment it opens
• Bug fixes and performance improvements
2.8.2 20 Aug
Your streak reminder now knows when to stop.
The daily nudge to keep your streak alive was set to repeat every day forever, with the count written into it at the moment it was scheduled. If your streak ended, the one case that should have cancelled the reminder was the one case that skipped the code that cancels it. So it kept arriving, with a number that was no longer true. It now clears itself properly and reads your live streak rather than a saved copy. Update now and keep climbing.
• Fixed the daily streak reminder repeating forever with a count that was out of date
• The reminder reads your live streak instead of a stored snapshot, so it goes quiet on the same app open that clears the streak
• Bug fixes and performance improvements
2.8.1 19 Aug
Your training is no longer a solo climb, and your very first session now sets up everything that follows.
Community is here: a new tab where proof videos people choose to share play as you scroll, muted, one at a time. Tap to unmute. Every clip keeps the shape it was filmed in. Sharing is per video and off by default, so you decide clip by clip what the world sees, and you can now record a proof straight from the tab. Finishing Day 0 also builds your skill tree and your first week of training from the moves you just did, so you land on a real Day 1 instead of an empty tree. Update now and keep climbing.
• New Community tab: real reps from real people working the same progressions, playing inline as you scroll
• Record a proof right from Community, picking the move from what you're mid-progression on
• Choose when videos autoplay: Wi-Fi only, Always, or Never
• Your first session now builds your skill tree and your first week of training, so nothing stands between you and Day 1. The full questionnaire is still there when you want it
• Another athlete's profile finally shows their level, XP, proofs, followers and workout count, with the follower and following lists a tap away
• A private account now looks private, and following someone no longer reveals clips they chose not to share
• Share any proof video to the feed with one toggle, off by default
• Report a video or block a person, and their clips disappear from your feed instantly
• Fixed the photo at the top of Flexibility, Train and Tree showing the wrong person for a moment when you opened the app
• Fixed profile pictures vanishing from older proofs after you changed your photo
• Fixed workouts and unlocks never reaching your followers
• Fixed a 30-second proof recording being discarded instead of saved
2.8.0 18 Aug
Small polish that makes every session feel better.
Logging a set now gives a satisfying sound cue across strength, mobility, and recovery workouts, and we smoothed out a recovery-session snag where the exercise instructions could scroll out of view. Update now and keep climbing.
• New: a subtle sound when you log a set or hold, in every workout type
• Siri-logged sets now play the same confirmation as tapping in the app
• Fixed recovery session instructions getting cut off while scrolling
• Sound cues respect your sound-effects setting
2.7.1 3 Aug
BodyTree 2.7 bends to your schedule instead of the other way around. Missed a workout? Make it up on any rest day — or train ahead when you've got the time — and your streak stays intact either way. Rest days got better too: twice the mobility variety, with sessions that rotate so nothing feels repetitive. Update now and keep climbing.
• Flexible training days: the Train home offers your next session on rest days — train ahead or make up a missed workout, and your streak stays intact without spending a freeze.
• New auto-advance option: flip it on in Settings and every session moves to the next exercise the moment you finish one.
• Rest-day mobility doubled: 12 drills per focus area, rotating automatically so no two rest days feel the same.
• Recovery sessions now count toward your streak — and got a fresh look with a smoothly collapsing header and a clearer phase-progress ring.
• Fixed weekly schedule dates anchoring to the wrong day, notifications arriving in a pile, and more bug fixes and performance improvements.
2.7.0 23 Jul
BodyTree 2.6 makes training and recovery work as one plan. When a recovery plan is active, you can have BodyTree automatically go easier on the exercises that stress the recovering area — reduced volume or a full pause, clearly labeled on every session, and everything snaps back the moment your plan completes. Navigation got cleaner too: four focused tabs, with the community feed now living in your Profile. Update now and keep climbing.
• Recovery-aware training: opt in to reduce volume on — or pause — exercises that stress a recovering area while your plan is active. Your program is never rewritten and reverts automatically.
• Honest session labels: adjusted workouts show a "Reduced · Recovery" badge so you always know why today looks lighter.
• Rough morning? If your pain check-in spikes, the Train home suggests going lighter that day.
• Cleaner navigation: four tabs — Train, Tree, Flex, Coach. Find the community feed under Profile ▸ Community, with proofs, voting, likes, and comments intact.
• Bug fixes and performance improvements, including a smoother Google sign-in.
2.6.0 21 Jul
BodyTree 2.5 puts recovery front and center. Your active recovery plan now lives right on the Train home — phase, progress, and whether a session is due today — and a smart daily reminder nudges you only when there's actually work to do. Recovery sessions themselves leveled up with rest countdowns, set undo, zoomable demos, and a proper end-of-session recap. Update now and keep climbing.
• Your recovery plan on the home screen: current phase, progress, and weekly cadence at a glance — including "Due today" prompts.
• Recovery reminders: pick a time, and BodyTree only reminds you when a session is actually due — tap to jump straight into your plan.
• Recovery sessions upgraded: rest countdown between sets, undo your last logged set, pinch-to-zoom exercise demos, and a recap of every session.
• Start recovery holds hands-free — "Hey Siri, start my set" now works in recovery sessions too.
• Bug fixes and performance improvements, including fresher rest timers and cleanup of stale workout notifications.
2.5.0 17 Jul
BodyTree 2.4.0 is the biggest rethink since launch. You start with a real first rep instead of a questionnaire — feel the win, then build your program when you're ready. Train is now your home tab, and every session explains itself: why this workout, what each block builds toward, why every exercise made the cut. The skill tree puts your goals front and center, and a new Lifetime option lets you pay once and keep Pro forever. Update now and keep climbing.
• New cold-open onboarding: do your first rep and complete a guided Day 0 session before any questions — then build your full program from home whenever you want.
• Train-first home: the app now opens on today's session, with the reason behind every workout, block, and exercise right where you train.
• Goals-first skill tree: your goal branches sit up top with live progress, and the full catalog tucks neatly below.
• Smarter programs: advanced slots appear per movement plane as you get stronger, and warmups now match your level with gentler variations for beginners.
• New Lifetime Pro: pay once, keep Pro forever — alongside the monthly and yearly plans.
• Bug fixes and performance improvements, including a rest timer that survives the final set and accurate like and comment counts.
2.4.0 14 Jul
BodyTree 2.3 makes mobility sessions feel like real training: rest between sets with a countdown, tap any exercise for a full demo, and start your holds hands-free with Siri. Onboarding now lets you chase more than one goal at a time, and every exercise description has been refined against trusted calisthenics and clinical rehab references. Update now and keep climbing.
• Mobility sessions leveled up: rest between sets with a countdown timer, tap-in demo sheets for every exercise, and a Siri hint to start holds hands-free.
• Pick multiple training goals during onboarding — and a new "prefer not to say" option.
• 130+ exercise, mobility, and flexibility descriptions refined against trusted calisthenics and clinical rehab references.
• Bug fixes and performance improvements.
2.3.0 7 Jul
BodyTree 2.2 opens with a brand-new animated launch: watch the skill tree draw itself in and lock into place as you sign in. This release also puts community safety in your hands — report anything that doesn't belong, and block members to instantly clear their content from your feed. Update now and keep climbing.
• New animated launch screen: the skill-tree node graph draws itself
in and morphs into sign-in.
• Report any shared video proof, comment, or member directly from the
feed and profiles.
• Block members to remove their content from your feed, comments, and
profiles — manage your blocked list in Settings.
• Bug fixes and performance improvements.
2.2.0 5 Jul
BodyTree 2.1 brings your camera into training: Live Form Check watches your isometric holds, times them automatically, and overlays a live skeleton so you can see your form as you train. A rebuilt Recovery dashboard guides rehab sessions with pain tracking and phase progression, while the new Progress Analytics command center surfaces personal records, trends, and full history export.
2.1.0 4 Jul
BodyTree 2.0 is a complete native rebuild of the app you already know. Every feature — the calisthenics skill tree, auto-generated programs, video proofs, streaks, and AI Coach — returns faster, smoother, and more reliable, with no setup required. Just update and pick up right where you left off.
2.0.0 3 Jul
BodyTree 1.13 puts you in control — of your data and your training. Export everything you've logged in one tap, delete your account securely whenever you want, and fine-tune exactly what we track with new privacy controls. New Daily Readiness check-ins — log sleep, energy, soreness, and stress, or auto-fill from Apple Health — score how recovered you are and ease your program back on tough days, with readiness trends for Pro. Auto-programming is smarter too, so your progressions advance the way they should. Plus a new feature request board to shape what gets built next, a cleaner feed, and a smoother first-run experience.
1.13.0 23 Jun
BodyTree 1.12 — train in one tap from Siri, Action Button, Home Screen, or Control Center. Live Activities and timer audio cues run end-to-end across mobility, rehab, and flexibility. The Today's Workout widget now flips to "You're done for today" the moment you finish — Siri and the Action Button recognise it instead of trying to restart. New in this build:
• Tree home — closest-to-unlock card shows the node you're two sets away from clearing. Pro preview now shows upcoming exercise names with
directional arrows.
• Friends + referrals — follow athletes, see their unlocks in the feed. Share bodytree.app/r/{code} — you both get a free month of Pro on
their first workout.
• Rehab — rotator cuff Phase 1 is now free.
• Pro clarity — Adaptive Programs leads the paywall, side-by-side comparison, yearly savings visible. Coach paywall copy fixed.
• Lifecycle emails — opt-in reminders for first unlocks, streaks, weekly digest, trial milestones.
• Workout complete — earned XP ramps in with a counter, haptic, and glow. "Save this order" only appears when you actually reordered.
• Polish — accessibility pass on every tab. Tactile haptics on milestones, save, and upgrade. Smooth set-by-set tree progress. Reduce
Motion respected. One-tap exercise swap with undo.
• Free upgrades — exercise swap and analytics peek without Pro.
• Reliability — rest timer + set entries survive minimize/restore. Workout share card no longer renders black. Progress ring matches "reps
away" copy. Coach sync, proof feed permissions, Live Activity rendering, weekly digest payload.
1.12.0 21 Jun
This update brings the biggest BodyTree upgrade yet: a Pro-only training coach you can actually have a conversation with, five phased recovery plans for the most common calisthenics injuries, and adaptive workout time estimates that learn how long your sessions really take. We also expanded the skill tree — including a full Human Flag branch — and added technique notes to 46 exercises so you know exactly what to focus on each rep.
1.11.0 8 Jun
BodyTree 1.10.0 makes the skill-to-proof loop seamless: finish your sets and record your video proof without ever leaving your workout. Pro subscribers get smarter retention tools — automatic streak freezes, a comeback XP bonus, and program targets that adapt after every session. A new referral program lets you and a friend both unlock Pro free, while push notifications keep your community and milestones front and center.
