Canva: The Perfect Partner in Crime!

I started using Canva straight out of university in my first internship to do simple visualisations of the data I was working with and, as someone who had quite literally 0 experience with design in any way shape or form, I found it incredible. The ease with which I picked uo the inner workings of Canva amazed even myself and within a week I upgraded to Pro and haven't looked back. Canva helped me discover a love for digital design in all shapes and sizes and the versatility on offer is exceptional, I cannot reccomend this highly enough, especially to those on the lower end of the experience spectrum, I cannot speak to how useful it would be for someone with more demanding graphic design needs but it will certainly get the job done,or die trying, like the perfect partner in crime!

I’ve been using Canvas so far to create reels to VoiceOver recordings and found it excellent, though it took a little while before I was able to find everything I was looking for. The wide selection of templates as well as the large amount of stock images and clips, makes creating a reel or post a breeze. The many effects are also impressive. The AI-options (Pro version) are also good, though I find myself conflicted about AI as it takes away jobs from artists, so I preferred the stock images over AI-generated content. The price for the full access Pro version is steep in my opinion: €12/month. It’s probably an okay price if you’re an influencer and are making money with your social media accounts but for the average person it feels way too expensive. In comparison: I’m paying €12/month for Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom and a couple more applications together! I’m currently trying out the paid trial version as most of the images/ clips I had searched for were only available in the Pro-version. It definitely takes away the frustration of searching for a certain image/ clip/ effect only to find out that MOST of them are only available in the paid version. I don’t think though I can afford the price tag once the trial is over. Because of the steep price I’m giving it 4 instead of 5 stars.

This application is remarkably user-friendly, and it contains numerous templates that assist you in navigating your tasks. Everything is saved efficiently. It is excellent as a free application, but the paid version is truly impressive. Additionally, you can order business cards and other items through the app.
