Really disappointed even before using the app! I was asked for ID for identity verification, fully understood and submitted my Irish drivers license, which can be used as ID in Ireland. Got an email shortly and it says my identity could not be verified, coz they can only accept government issued ID. Fine, I then submitted my passport, then got another email, it says my identity could not be verified again, because it could not prove that I can reside in the county I’m in. I mean, I thought I downloaded a wrong app, it’s more like a immigration service app! Ok, this hasn’t driven me mad yet, still try to convince myself that anything to do with money transfer must be very serious on ID verification, everyone is the same. Then I contacted few friends who are the same nationality as me with similar status and resident in Ireland, they got ID verified by submitting passport, no further requirement. Seems Revolute has 2 or more different standard or procedures to Verify IDs! This is really disappointing, will never use or recommend the app.

I was using Revolut for months and had no issues with it, that is until money was stolen from my regular National bank account and my bank card was cancelled by my bank and an investigation was opened up. I received all the stolen money back in a refund from my bank once they had completed the investigation (Paypal was also involved) however despite the fact that Revolut was not involved whatsoever they froze my Revolut account for three whole weeks while they conducted a ‘security check.’ They kept insisting it had nothing to do with the fraud on my bank account, and that my account would be up and running soon. Then after three weeks they informed me that I was no longer allowed used their services as my account was to be permanently shut down, and thats I had to liquidity all my funds with them. I asked over and over again what the issue was and why I could no longer have a Revolut account with them but they refused to give me any information, they kept telling me it was ‘confidential’ and they couldn’t disclose to me as to why they were shutting my account down. Horrible service from them, this company operates in the shadows and I wouldn’t trust them with your money if I were you.

Fan of the app but please be careful of Disposable Cards! Ironically these are intended to reduce the risk of fraudulent transactions but in my case ended up benefitting those robbing me! I used it abroad on a site that looked a bit dodgy and the company ended up taking money from me afterwards for several months. Once I realised I contacted Revolut and they told me they cancelled the card. The next month, another fraudulent transaction, contacted Revolut and got told that Disposable cards cannot be cancelled as the merchant was using it for an offline transaction which takes a few days to register and there was nothing they could do!?! So removed all of my money from Revolut and the next month they did it again and put my account into a negative balance! Contacted Revolut again, and got told there is nothing they can do?! So whilst I did like the app and it’s functionality, I wouldn’t feel comfortable storing too much of my money with then if they can’t even cancel a simple recurring direct debit that is fraudulent. The other features are good and I like the fact I can simply transfer money to friends but my recent experience would have anybody doubting their level of trust with large sums of money
