🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻We’ve been actively boosting my manager’s profile on Upwork—putting in our hard-earned money and savings to get genuine visibility. But sadly, what we’re facing is quite disheartening: a flood of fake job invites. It’s frustrating that despite investing in boosting, the results are nowhere near what was expected. The feature doesn’t seem to actually improve our ranking or visibility, no matter how much effort we put into crafting high-quality proposals.And what’s more concerning is how easily fake jobs are allowed to be posted. Isn’t there any solid verification in place? Freelancers like us are trying to grow and find real opportunities, but the system is starting to feel rigged. It’s like the only people benefiting from this now are YouTubers promoting Upwork or the platform itself.Upwork really needs to step in and do something—because what once felt like a trusted freelancing space now feels like it’s turning into a money trap. Our experience is deteriorating day by day, and it’s genuinely disappointing.

Great platform for freelancers and clients, especially for building long-term professional relationships and finding quality remote work opportunities. The overall experience has been smooth, and the mobileapp is useful for managing proposals, messages, and contracts on the go.However, as an iPad user and digital illustrator, I strongly feel that Upwork should provide a dedicated iPad app instead of only relying on the stretched iPhone version. A proper iPadOS-optimized app with better multitasking support, split-screen compatibility, improved workspace layout, and file management would massively improve productivity for creative professionals, designers, and freelancers who work primarily on iPads.Please consider developing a full-featured native iPad app experience for freelancers. It would make a huge difference.

I love the app - easy applications to jobs - comfortable UI. I have not faced any issues so far. Just one - please provide iPad users with a dedicated application - which merges the portable UI with the desktop application features such as time tracking and contract management. There are several freelancers who I believe would be facilitated if they could use their iPads for portable and flexible workflows if they could use their iPads for a laptop replacement. Do look into this direction - absolutely love the platform and mobile application otherwise.

Upwork is a platform where there are a lot of freelancers and the reason why most people opt for it for trust. However the reality is its not a dependle platform for mission critical projects ( For example if you have a MVP you are trying to build and if that needs to go live in 4 weeks, upwork can ban the freelancer saying they found the freelancer is a fraud and banned from the platform + You wont get the money back). Their excuse would be we are just a "mediator" and i dont help you with any money protection even though we banned the freelancer who have been working on your project).Upwork clearly doesnt support chargebacks ( This is against the regulatory rules of RBI in India and card protection rules). If you really go through the upwork terms and conditions, the moment you raise a chargeback upwork will block you out of the platform. Not recommended for mission critical projects ( But its good for hobby projects and small value projects where you loosing the money wont hurt you).

There is nothing wrong with the app itself. Whats wrong is some clients who usually post jobs like this " logo design /simple typing or logo design and then in the description it says we need freelancers who can do simple logo design and when i was a beginner i fell into one of these traps they said if i translate and retype 30 pages of a pdf from English to Arabic they will pay me 1200 USD and after finishing the job they asked me to send them 60 USD so that they can verify its my account they are transfering the money to.And recently these scams have taken over upwork literally and i saw dozens of pages have these scam jobs listed continuously

I have been on upwork since 2016. I worked on the platform for close to 7 years. 7 important years and in early 2024 when I had too much going on at my end, I had to stop using it because I didn’t have the time to manage two things at once. I found a mail late in December that they have suspended my account. All their mails were going to my spam hence I didn’t know that my account was suspended. The same month when I tried logging in, I couldn’t. Just imagine losing all your work/reviews/ feedback because some company couldn’t give you a good deadline or a call. All the fuss over a profile picture which is honestly our own choice. Now I am commited to never use this app ever again!Thanks upwork.

I recently started using Upwork and paid $20 for a membership and connects. I applied to multiple job postings but never received a single response. Now, my connects are depleted, and to continue bidding, I’d have to pay another $20 for more connects.This raises serious concerns—how can freelancers trust that they’ll actually get a contract after paying? Upwork charges both for bidding (before even securing work) and takes a cut from payments once a job is won. This system feels unfair, especially for new freelancers trying to get started.I also have doubts about the authenticity of some job posts. It seems possible that Upwork itself creates job listings just to encourage freelancers to keep spending on connects. If that’s the case, freelancers are essentially paying just to send applications into the void.Freelancers looking for work shouldn’t have to pay upfront just for the chance to apply. If Upwork charged only after a contract was secured, that would make sense. But their current model feels like a trap—forcing people to spend money without any guarantee of work.

I recently used Upwork to find and hire a freelancer, and unfortunately, I was not impressed with the platform's user interface and user experience.One of the main issues I had with Upwork was the confusing and cluttered layout of the website. It was difficult to navigate and find the information I needed, and I often found myself clicking around aimlessly trying to find what I was looking for.In addition, the search and filtering options for finding freelancers were limited and not very effective. It was difficult to find qualified candidates that matched my specific needs, and I had to wade through a lot of irrelevant results to find someone suitable.Overall, I found the user interface and user experience of Upwork to be frustrating and not up to par with other similar platforms. While the platform may have some useful features, the poor design and usability make it a less appealing option for finding and hiring freelancers.

The app had suspended my account because of a slight misunderstanding in a chat that I had with one of the artist after explaining many times that it was a misunderstanding they had not given my account back and not ready to hear me out. The artist had no problem with me and is willing to work more, but I don’t know who checks all the chats, but I think they need to have a basic understanding of English before suspending someone’s account, especially when it’s my first time using the app. They suspend account for every small word that they think is not OK. I’m not sure how this company is getting revenue if they keep suspending users account.

Upwork locked my account and made private which makes my account can’t be viewed by other and they sent mail stats I didn’t get any work via their platform. From mail, “We noticed you have not been working through Upwork lately.To improve clients' search results, and show them more freelancers who are available, we have changed your profile to "private" until you are ready to start taking on new jobs. Your profile will not be seen by clients unless you submit proposals for their jobs.It will automatically become public again when you resume earning through Upwork. You can also contact Upwork Support for help“.I had 1 active proposal and submitted 2 proposals. If clients don’t pick the freelancers, what the individual can do. If you make their account private, will that help the freelancer any way?. Or you are expecting only people who is getting selected by clients and just throwing all other?. Change that way of treating anyone.
