This is an amazing app and I’ve come to loooooove it! It’s been just about 4 days and I can already see That I’ve learnt many new words in German. The app is genius and accordingly matches with your pace of leaning/understanding. It’s highly customisable and a really smart way to learn a language. You don’t need to commit to it. You’ll get into it without even trying to! It’s now been 260 days and this app is just sooo much different from the conventional way of learning a language. My friend started learning German at school at about the same time as me. I can say so many sentences, even write small paragraphs while my friend is still stuck at salutations and basic sentences. This app is something else! Literally a magical boon from the Gods. No exaggeration. Genuinely commenting this. I thoroughly love it. Credits to the genius developers and team behind this app. Bless you for making this piece of magic free and hence accessible to everyone. I even recommended this app to our domestic helper’s kids and similar people I know of who May not otherwise be able to afford a language course. Plz Continue this free service. It can change a life! I’m not used to writing lengthy reviews, so I’ll keep it short here as well. This app is awesome if you want to learn any foreign language, as a variety of languages are available here. Also, it’s like a game challenge so it keeps you hooked to the app and in order to be on the top in the leagues, you keep on doing your lessons and learning the language. The only thing, although, I don’t like about the app is the concept of ‘hearts’ like any other video game. You can keep the ads, it’s okay I get you gotta make profit too. But the concept of hearts or limited lives is not done. This is not a video game, even if you’ve made it like one for people to find it intriguing. Whilst learning a language completely unknown, people are tend to make mistakes, and not just one or two, but many. If you guys keep these ‘hearts’, i.e., the mistake counter, it’ll be an obstacle in people’s aim of learning their desired language. Making mistakes is not bad, but they should get the chance to correct them every single time. You can’t just let us wait for hours and hours for one heart when we make 5 mistakes. It’s honestly really frustrating. I know you’ve done this to increase the number of ads you put in, but if that’s the case, you can put those after a lesson or two. No need of this heart system. I’ve cut off 1 star solely due to the same reason. I would like to request the Duolingo team to kindly look into this and if possible, remove this limitation of mistakes we can do being a non-super duolingo user.

Duolingo is an amazing app overall, perfect for quick bites of learning lessons that are fun, interactive, and motivating. With leaderboards, I’m always encouraged to try a lesson. There are many varieties, with chess matches available for the chess course, on-keyboard songs for music, and hanzi + pinyin for Chinese, including many more! The graphics are visually appealing, with diverse character personas to create an atmosphere of fun for everyone! The only reason I cut a star for this rating is because of the Super privileges. Most people started out as hobby learners, who don’t want to or can’t pay for it. It isn’t fair that their learning is stunted because of this. Some things are understandable, but not being able to have free legendary levels and speaking + listening exercises is quite disappointing, along with ads on almost every single lesson, which take up too much time. My overall opinion is that Duolingo is really great, but I would like it if some things were more available towards non-super learners! edit: I’m going to have to bring this down from four to three stars- everything was going well till energy was added, which might have been the worst decision yet. True, it does help learners with mistakes. But only 25 energy? There could have at least been a choice, rather than every user being converted to a system where you can only do a lesson or two a day, even the ones that were absolutely fine with the 5-heart system.

I'm gonna be real here, Duolingo's got some major flaws. I love the idea behind it - gamification, bite-sized lessons, and a wide range of languages. But, in practice, it feels like they're holding me back. The biggest issue I've got is the limited number of hearts. Seriously, 5 hearts and you're done? It's like they're rationing my learning experience.I want to do more units, I want to learn more, but no, I'm stuck with these measly hearts. And don't even get me started on the waiting time to get more hearts. It's like they're trying to slow me down. I'm trying to learn a language here, not play a game where I have to wait for hours to get more lives.And it's not just the hearts. The lack of depth in the lessons is also a major issue. I feel like I'm just scratching the surface of the language, and I'm not getting the kind of comprehensive learning experience I need. I want more complex grammar, more nuanced vocabulary, and more opportunities to practice speaking and listeningDuolingo's great for beginners, but for someone who's serious about learning a language, it's just not enough. I need more flexibility, more options, and more opportunities to learn. Until they address these issues, I'm stuck in this limbo, unable to reach my full potential as a language learner.Maybe I'm just being too harsh, but honestly, I'm frustrated. I want to love Duolingo, I really do. But until they make some serious changes, I'm gonna have to look elsewhere for my language learning needs.
