I had absolutely no liking or passion for Spanish in school but after I left school the tv series Power made me fall in love with the language and in time the culture, then I started regretting not paying interest in Spanish in school. I found this app sometime later I don’t even remember how but it has been a blessing, more than that even! I love it so much and it really helps, the repetition was annoying at first but the way it’s made everything stick in mind is just awesome this app is perfect! I’d love to support and go premium but I hate the idea of unlimited hearts, I think it would stunt my learning I’d love if I could turn that on and off. PLEASE ADD THAT FEATURE!

Powerful learning tool that can be improved

I love Duolingo, before I was using a different app but after awhile I learned to get used to its features and learn to use it. I have two remarks or advice i guess to give to the developers of the game. 1. Please let there be a way I can view the words that I have learned and their translation for every lesson. There are times I take a break from learning and when I come back I want to quickly look at the words I remember and the ones I don’t but I can’t do that I have to go through a whole lesson to see which words I know and which one I don’t. I don’t usually like making mistakes, so you can understand how unsettling it must feel when I go through the lessons making mistake after mistake. So I please ask if it possible to have a list somewhere of all the words I have learned so far. And the second remark or advice I have is to give more options to use those lingots on, I feel like the current options don’t really give me any motivation to use the lingots so I feel discouraged even to continue collecting them which means I feel discouraged to even use the app. Overall I do love using Duolingo, I just hope in the future it can be changed to make it more attractive to use, other than the fact that it helps you learn new words.

I have been using Duolingo for quite some time and the features I love are great like the widgets interface, the emails and notifications from the app to keep you accountable. I love the leader board how it pushes you to learn more and the friend challenges are amazing. Honestly for the friend thing I wish you could maybe gift your friends XP boost or streak freeze because once my friend who was learning with me never used streak freeze but when he had a loss in the family I really wished I could send him some of my streak freeze since I stopped using them. I wished the learning could switch to something more along the lines of a dialogue or a story that exposes us to how the language sounds when spoken, help us to practice listening more and then we could have like the questions afterwards but it doesn’t really teach much when you just push a new word and then we have to guess it and if we guess wrong we loose a heart. Apps like Drops, Memrise, Babel and Falou employ this style and it really helps me to learn. I wish also there was like a dictionary and flash card section to be honest. I mean this is one of the most popular apps and if we just employ methods to better help people to learn having a 200 day streak should equate me actually being able to confidently speak or atleast be confident enough to listen to someone in Spanish and understand without them having to try limit their vocabulary or mix the language, because I work in a Spanish resort and still struggle to keep up with my managers who speak Spanish and I wonder if I am wasting my time despite being consistent on the app. I think lots of steps need to be put in place to make this app a better language learning app because it’s not cheap to have a subscription and then also to have to get five or six other apps with equally expensive subscriptions and maintain this with my other bills if I am not seeing actual progress.
