THE SKY, EXPLAINED Every object now tells you what it physically is before any story about it, and you choose whose sky you are reading: Southern African, Greek and Roman, Arabic, Polynesian and Maori, Aboriginal Australian, Chinese or Norse. isiLimela the Digging Stars, Dithutlwa the giraffes of the Southern Cross, Kgogamashego that drags the night across the sky. Every reading names the people it belongs to and cites a published source. Nothing was invented. ANY NIGHT, TO THE MINUTE The time machine now takes the exact date and the exact time, not just the year. A birth at four in the morning and one at ten at night stand under different stars. A SKY THAT RESIZES Latitude now lays itself out from the space it is given. Turn it wide and the controls move to a rail on the side so the sky keeps the full height of the screen. Landscape is unlocked on iPhone for the first time. WRITTEN, NOT SPOKEN AT The synthetic narrator is gone. Tonight's sky is written out in full instead, and VoiceOver reads it in your own voice and at your own rate. WAKE ME FOR THE PEAK Latitude can now set a real alarm, the kind that sounds through silent mode and a Focus, fifteen minutes before a meteor peak, an eclipse or a space-station pass. Enough time to get outside and let your eyes adjust. ONE MOVEMENT TO THE SKY Two Control Centre controls, which also work on the Action Button and the Lock Screen. THE SKY BESIDE WHAT YOU TAPPED On a wide screen, tapping a constellation or a planet no longer covers the sky with a card. It opens beside it, and the sky stays live while you read. FIXED Shared sky links now actually open the app. They never did. Free forever. No subscription, no adverts, no in-app purchases, no account.

The sky is now the real sky. Fifteen thousand stars, in their true positions, in their true colours. Hot stars burn blue, old giants glow orange, and the Milky Way arcs overhead exactly where it actually is tonight. Stars now dim and redden as they sink toward the horizon, and shimmer harder down low, the way they really do when you stand outside and look up. The dome turns at the true rate of the turning Earth. A darker sky gives you more stars. Cloud and moonlight take them away again.

Version 2.1. Travel the sky, and never miss a night. The Time-Machine Sky: scrub the real sky to any night in history, the night you were born, a famous night, the June dawn when isiLimela climbs back into the sky. Tap the date at the top to begin. Meteor Live: a full-screen count-along for a shower peak, tap each one you catch. Guided Sky Tours: short narrated walks through the sky, including the indigenous Southern canon. Kept-Sky memories: your saved skies become a luminous timeline, and the ones you loved resurface on their anniversary. The Spoken Sky: a VoiceOver rotor lets you navigate the night by ear, star by star. Now in isiZulu, isiXhosa and Afrikaans. Southern skies welcome. Look up.
