From my experience using a midi keyboard with the application as been excellent, it’s made learning piano really enjoyable, you get immediate feedback on your playing, especially for timing which when I had piano lessons years ago seemed to be lacking, I did start with knowledge and past experience, so I don’t know how it would be for someone with no music lesson experience, there is certainly stuff for the very beginner, also the first few lessons I worked through quickly and so I got a very immediate sense of improvement that has motivated me more later on knowing that I will see an improvement if I put in the time. The easiest way for this application to work is via midi/usb which is how I’m using it, it is also suppose to be able take audio input, I don’t have any experience with that so I don’t know how well it works like that, but you can try it out for free before you pay. I found a very minor bug with it, but nothing serious and does affect your actual playing, the indicators about how on time you are could be a little clear, use colour to show how too early or too late you are would be nice.

I am really enjoying this app and I truly appreciate all the effort that was made for delivering such great tool for learning instruments! I am studying ukulele and never played instrumentals before Yousician! Great interface, much to choose from, I never get tired from tasks as you can choose your day's path depending on your mood- learn new songs / gain all gold stars for previous tasks / participate in challenges .. And so much motivation coming through to my mailbox and push-ups, that are very informative and engaging! Totally recommend to those wanting to get new great hobby and learn play instrumental in an easy game-like way! Thank you a lot Yousicians! Great job! Q - is there any ability to use the app online? I often go camping and would love to continue studying outdoor. And I live in New Zealand and Internet here costs heaps!! Please add offline tools 🙏🙏🙏

About a year and a half ago I was taking private guitar lessons at my school. I was really struggling to learn how even the most basic of actions and became really frustrated every lesson. I took those lessons for four months and barely learned a thing, so I quit the lessons and moved on with my life.And now I’m here a year and half later and my Mum wants me to learn guitar again (I’m a very musical type of person so I assume this was to have some sort of instrument that complimented my voice on stage). Of course at first I’m very reluctant and try to convince her otherwise, she manages to win me over however on the offer of both not having to do private lessons and instead just using a phone app (she also promised that I could go see the avengers endgame in theatres but you can just go ahead and ignore that).And now I’m only a week into using this app and I’ve already learned all the basics of how to play various chords, how to change hand positions to a different chord quickly, and how to play a few songs.Keep in mind that this is one week I’ve used Yousician and yet I’ve already learned more than what I learned in four months of private lessons. Aside just being generally very simple and effective to use; it also has demonstration videos you can watch to get a better understanding of how to do what you’re learning.I like to rate things very objectively especially the when it comes to apps, movies, and video games, I don’t hand out 5 star ratings without reason. I truely believe that in terms of what Yousician is attempting to accomplish it excels in every area. An easy 5 stars from me.
