[Update]:I decided to try out the app at the Hobbyist level, and I have found it to be quite useful so I’m raising my rating to 4 stars. I’m still not wild about the removal of the free functionality that was originally available but, as a professional UAV pilot, I have come to rely on the app for checking flight conditions before traveling to a work site so it’s only fair to update the review to reflect my positive experiences with it. [Original review]:I installed this app at the recommendation of a UAV class in which I am enrolled, only to find that it has been made utterly useless unless you pay for even the most basic functionality. This looks like it could be a very useful app and I am all for supporting developers of high quality apps but I have to agree with the other reviewers that it is very bad practice to remove functionality that was previously free. It appears that this app has been downgraded at least twice in its lifetime until now the free version has no functionality whatsoever and simply displays a useless forecast for a random location.

I’ve only been flying for a month so everything is still pretty new to me. This app shows me exactly what I need to know for my flight planning purposes, and it does so with a really efficient and easy to read grid of information. Pros: > I can change thresholds for any of the weather or atmospheric metrics> I can send a snapshot of the weather/forecast to myself to add to my flight log later> The app is updated regularly. If you’re looking for sUAS apps (or any apps for that matter), check out the last time they were updated!> I bought the subscription and I think having several days’ worth of data is worth the small price - helps a lot for planning flights for later in the week. Cons:> Not a con, but a feature request. Please consider adding a way to store a few favorite locations. I currently save GPS coordinates in a notepad page and paste them into search when trying to plan a flight, but favorites would be a little easier. Overall excellent app for uav weather as long as they keep doing a great job keeping the app up to date and simple to use.

This app used to be free but without warning it’s now a paid app which is fine because the information it gives you is great. My problem is I went out flying not seeing the little “preview” banner and thought conditions were good. Turned out it was giving generic stats as a demo screen and not actual conditions, and no longer live data. A popup would have been nice saying not actual live data, instead of saying ‘good to fly’. I launched my drone a few times not realizing the gusts were more than I expected, but I trusted the app.. not cool. (Update to developer feedback) no, I got no popup, only thing was those tiny preview banners which don’t state “NOT LIVE DATA”. Had this resulted in damage or bodily harm, you would have lost that case.

Excellent addition to my collection of apps for drone flying. The Wind Profile tab shows me everything I need to know about the wind at various altitudes before I go out flying. Feature request: At the top of the Wind Profile screen it shows “Last Update: a few seconds ago”, which tells me when the app last pulled data from the server, but it doesn’t give me any indication of how old the data on the server is. Much more useful would be a time stamp from the data feed itself (if there is one) indicating how current it is. “Last update: a few seconds ago” always leaves me wondering if I’ve just pulled down 3-day-old data from the server...

This app is really great. With one tap, you are displayed with the local conditions you care about before you fly. It is presented in an easy to understand, unobscured format that will let you know within seconds if you’re good to fly. The app is simple, clean, accurate and easy to use. It provides the average enthusiast with everything they need to check before flying all in one convenient space. Not to mention, it’s customizable to fit your needs or the restrictions of your UAV. Can’t recommend this app enough. It’s just what I was looking for. I will continue to recommend this to all UAV users.

Don’t get me wrong! This app seems to fairly accurate when it comes to weather and conditions needed to fly your drone but can’t see paying so much for the premium version because the forecast can not be even close to accurate over a few hours to maybe a day away. The wind speeds often change within minutes so seeing a forecast 5 days away is simply crazy. Nice try though to get others to pay for features that really won’t help us drone flyers. The free version is very good though and feel it’s enough for me. I still give it 4 stars but at least lower the yearly price to maybe $5.

I used this app for over a year . It was really handy when I first started flying just to check the next days wind forecast . As of yesterday I noticed it no longer gives 24 hour forecast for free . Now you have to pay for anything over a 3 hour forecast . Rendering it pretty much useless unless you pay for it . Also noticed quite a few times it was definitely not accurate with my anemometer wich also made me lose trust in it . I kept it to cross reference but now I absolutely have no use for it . Bad form for forcing a subscription for a 24 hour forecast . Deleted . Thought of purchasing but this is part of what lost me and won’t consider it anymore . A simple wind forecast app that’s free does just fine .

It is easy to locate in the App Store and to “get” it for the most part it is quite easy to figure out . There are a few features that should be explained. First time users might not realize how the OK TO FLY message is triggered ...... this seems to key off the altitudes and max wind speeds entered by the user ..... Which in itself should be explained However I sometimes see the NOT OK TO FLY message When the conditions would indicate that it is OK There is no explanation So it seems like an incorrect message is being shown.It does not seem to be a truly reliable source of information for this reason

The features it offers are great in terms of information covered is basically everything you could need to know before flying. However the app never figures out my location even after typing it in and that usually renders it useless. I love the thought put into this app for pilots, it just needs some fine tuning in order to work. I haven't experienced the charge window problem which I am hoping is simply a glitch and not a purposeful act. I am however afraid to log in since this was supposed to be a free app with the OPTION of an extended forecast and VIP type purchase plan, but it is automatically charging people for using it. I recently got my first drone and this app came highly recommended. I have been heavily relying on it to tell me when I should and should not fly. For the most part is has been good, however, I am starting to lose my confidence in the accuracy of it. There was one day I wanted to fly and it said “Not Good To Fly” with 24mph wind gusts. I went outside and it was a beautiful day and not a single tree was blowing. Another day it was down pouring. I’m in my house listening to all the rain pounding on my roof. I happened to launch the app to see what it would say, and everything was green and said, “Good To Fly”. I think it’s time to find a new app. And to think I was actually considering to pay for a subscription to this.
