It really helps me remember new vocabulary in a foreign language if there is a brief description of the etymology of the foreign word included right below the translation. Studies have long shown that including the etymology helps language learners retain new vocabulary at a much higher rate than learners presented with the translation alone, so adding this feature would benefit all users of this app. Any chance we’ll see this in a future update of Google Translate?

Completely free translation app. Can be used to learn languages and the camera feature is top tier. Always have this app visible on my home page. Only thing i would add is being able to change the voices of translator. Maybe even add lessons on languages to help learn. I could see that being viral.

This app helped me *immensely* when I traveled to Mexico & needed to translate things. I love that you can use talk to text so I could translate other people‘s messages in real time. I also appreciate the bookmark feature so that I could easily access translations easily. Really thankful this exists!

This is absolutely life changing. I’ve been using Duolingo and cannot have a sentence with Spanish speakers ever. This new feature of the practice tab is everything and more I have been needing to practice my Spanish - so THANK YOU! 🙌🏼

Most people are not aware that this app offers language practices which is the most efficient language app i ever seen. Give it a try. Everything is for free. Especially for students like us who cannot afford paid apps. God bless google

This is really the only option for school / technical work. In so much it is essentially worthless for IRL spoken word translation Ie in mandarin the hanzi for america is the combination of two symbols that taken alone read beautiful country… goog only understands the transliteration so it says beautiful country which is a flat out wrong translation.

I’ve used the Apple translate app that came preinstalled on my iPhone 16 Pro Max when I got the Phone back in October of 2024 and up until recently there have been a lot of like bugs and glitches in the “Apple Translate app” the reason I like The Google Translate app is because Google Translate offers more languages that you can translate anything you want to than the “Apple Translate app” Google Translate app is by far a better app than Apple Translate. The same can be said for Google Maps. Google Maps is way better than Apple’s Maps app. I have uninstalled both Apple’s Translate and Maps app in favor of Google Translate and Google Maps.

I love learning this for Spanish languages, but it won’t let me know what kind of Spanish I wanna use, like for example, Spanish (Spain), Spanish (Latin American), Spanish (Mexico), Spanish (Chile), and Spanish (Argentina). It just randomly does it for me. I don’t understand this at all. So next time you do the update in the future, can you put like all the AI Spanish languages so I can know to learn the Spanish from all the states? And this isn’t a force request, but I would really do appreciate it. Thank you so much.

I’m not happy because this app does not allow you listening to the structures of languages I’m blind and cannot listen to my screen reader say mispronounced words fix this or I’m deleting your app sorry but this is not a good app for me anymore. It used to work so good but now it just doesn’t want to work. I can’t figure out why it’s doing this, but to speak test button says dimmed and live. Translate says dimmed and every and I can’t listen to the words pronounced why is it like this?

They need to improve the app to not stop the listening option until the person is finished speaking. For both regular translating and the live conversation editor, it would stop randomly and translate when the person wasn’t even finished with what they’re saying. I feel like it should not pause and translate until the person finishes speaking. It also provides completely incorrect translations in the conversation feature for Korean conversations.
