I’ve had the app and subscription for about a week or two and I really like the music library and overall love the app. Although, the annotations that I made on imported files lag for a bit before appearing. My major concern is whenever I’m playing my piece and turn the page, my annotations aren’t there and it interrupts my performance and or practice. Other than that, really think that this is a great app for musicians and I definitely recommend the yearly subscription.

At 65 Ive self taught myself to play the piano via the internet, and many books which has been a dream come true. When I came across “Musicnotes”, I hurried and purchased it knowing that it too would be another great help to me. And I must say, it was no mistake it’s been the VERY BEST BLESSING by far. The music is wonderful, you have so much to choose from, what key you want to play in, I can’t say enough you just need to get it. Thank you Musicnotes , God bless you all.S. Lineberry

I’m experiencing problems with pdfs being locked. The files open on my phone and computer however they don’t work on music notes app. If I remove the files, I still have problems because all of the songs that previously worked don’t until I close the app and reopen. I need reliability for gigs and I’m not getting it. Also, the help line doesn’t help. No customer service support seems available.I plan to adjust this rating if the problem is resolved.

Musicians who need a reliable app for performances; DO NOT USE THIS APP! I’m stuck with this app bc of the amount of music I have purchased in the many years I’ve had it. It shuts down MULTIPLE times during performances, closes the app out entirely in the middle of songs, freezes during searches, only lets me upload one song at a time for set list creations, and so on. I have tried tech support, I have updated my iPad, archived songs as suggested, and still nothing. I told tech support this and crickets. They offered me no further suggestions, no fixes. So what do I do? Improv. I’ve learned to improv with one hand while reopening the app and finding the song with the other. I don’t recommend it, it’s stressful when you’re in the middle of, say, a wedding processional. Do not use this app if you will want a large library, if you’ll want to import .pdfs, or if you want reliability. It’s been garbage for me for 2+ years but I’m too financial invested in the music purchased at this point to stop using it. So learn from me: try something else.

I have 2 major issues with this music. One is that you have to buy the music before you can see if it can be transposed. I tried both the app and the website with no luck. Playing a song in Gb isn’t my best key; I can play it in G, but what if it’s too high for the singers? I buy the music and then have to manually transpose? I don’t have 3 weeks to wait on it to be done. Second, I have a bad printer, so I download music to a flash drive and take it to the library to print. This app will not allow me to print from the download. I don’t want to make multiple copies- just the one I’m entitled to. Not all of us have yet invested in a big tablet and digital music app; if you have, you are in a bit better position.This is nothing like another site I use and prefer, which gives previews showing the available keys, and allows me to download and print it in different keys. I’m really disappointed with this site and will only use it as a last resort.

I was using my pedal to turn pages in MusicNotes for literal years when one day, it randomly stopped working. I followed all of the suggestions on their website, and it actually messed up the keyboard settings for my iPad in general. I'm not sure if it's the latest update, or maybe a strategy to get more people to purchase PDFs instead of reading from the app, but this issue has severely detrimented several of my professional performances already. I would definitely avoid this app until they have the pedal issue comletely resolved.

I had previously given this app 2 stars due to my review below. I now revise it to 5 stars since they have incorporated the option to show or hide the page numbers on the zoom option. I now can retire the old app.Not a very performance friendly appIt's great that one can edit the score and put in text. Marking tools are easier to access. It's also great that the music can be printed from this app. It's just not very performance friendly. As a performing artist reading from the score, I'd like to be able to see the page numbers so it is easier to jump to a specific page. However, in this app the numbers are only visible when the music is smaller. This works if you're a singer and can hold your IPad close. But when you're an organist, and the IPad is 3 or 5 manuals away, it does not work. When you view it in the format where the notes are comparable to their older app in size, the page numbers disappear. Thus making da Capo, and Coda jumps virtually impossible, without stopping, in longer pieces/songs. This app has made improvements, but for the reason just cited, I am still keeping and using the older app.

I bought a couple of songs from my computer at $5.50 each. I got the app in order to quickly search for music and add music to my collection as I am taking a class! First off the search app on this is not good versus the online version search. Online you get to chose genre, instrument, note,etc and you get a customized list of results! Online you only get the song you enter and similarly named songs. But back to the prices...choosing a song and putting in your cart in the app results in a $6.99 price tag! If you buy it online the same song will cost $5.50! As their customer service explained the price difference is because of ITunes pricing structure...they can’t charge less! 😒 They should state this in the iTunes App Store before you download! One can purchase a song online then somehow move it into your library, per customer service. I was going to do exactly that with a broadway show tune, I clicked the link to buy the song at $5.50 when it took me to the site, I was pleased to see the song listed at $3.99, YAY! Clicked to add it to my cart and went to pay and the price was $5.50 again! When I clicked back to the page...still $3.99, clicked to add to cart and had another $5.50 song in the cart! I looked at the details description of the song, and it listed the show it was from, the version, the year written, etc...and the price...$3.99! Sketchy! The song didn’t offer the neat doodads like transposing or playback, etc. then why $6.99, $5.50 and $3.99 for one song? Sketchier and sketchier! Don’t get the app...it offers less than just maintaining an online account.

This app comes in so much handy whenever I go to practice and forget my sheet music. This is also handy for learning music as it has a function that allows the music to be played out by a piano. Where I hope the app can inprove is in two areas: the voices used for the keyboard and other instruments, and in bluetooth functionality. Whenver I play my music, the voices used sound like they are from the 80's. The piano voice does not really sound like a real piano. I hope the sound gets updated so that possibly this app can be used as a karaoke machiene of sorts, so you can sing with the accompaniment. This isnt possible now because the voicings are so artificial. Now on Bluetooth, there is a significant lag between the app and the speaker. My speaker is a top quality speaker that is synced with every other function I have used, even Netflix! This app has a 1.5 second delay between screen and speaker that should be fixed as it seems like a software issue rather than a hardware one. Wonderful app overall, do download it, it is very useful! I hope this review has been useful.

I want to start by saying I generally love this app. I am a violinist and strings teacher and this app allows me to operate hands free when I play weddings and find some neat pieces for my students. That said, something happened in the last update, and now my first gen Apple Pencil doesn’t work. And I’m mad. I need to be able to mark my music (I’ve been able to mark it before without issue). The apple pencil works on other apps, so I know that isn’t the problem. I will will mark and nothing will show up. The ‘undo’ button still appears as though I have marked something, but there isn’t anything there. Please fix it ASAP!! Thanks!!!7/17- thank you for the response! Yes, I’ve been putting “draw” feature on. It won’t work for the highlighter or the pen. (I have used both just fine in the past.)7/18- this is ridiculous! You have asked me whether I have been using the app in “draw” mode a SECOND time. YES- and it isn’t working!!!! So now not only is my app not working, but the customer service is non-existent! I’m going to be looking into a new system for my music. Extremely dissatisfied.
