On occasion, you’ll stop a movie, come back it and you’ll have restarting from a much earlier point than you left off. A small price to pay for the absolute treasure trove of programming on hand. As a film major myself, I’d argue a subscription here is more valuable than tuition to any film school. Criterion probably accounts for 80% of everything I stream. Cannot recommend it enough.

This is the best streaming service I'm aware of. It's one you can learn from. As you watch the great collection of films and the extras that are included with them, you quickly discover more and more that you want to watch. I will also say that the Criterion Channel values its customers, unlike other streaming services. Think of a subscription to this service as a rare subscription that will pay for itself in terms of the value and the knowledge that it will give you. It's excellent.

Best film school around for understanding film as an art, amazing selection of titles spanning decades, movements, and countries with insightful content that provides context and depth to many viewings. UI could be better across all platforms though, i wish the TV version of the app would allow for subtitle customization as the desktop version and i also wish the over all layout of content varied more and had a better organization

Criterion has everything, from classic golden age Hollywood and the pre-code era, short films, essential and transformative films,to contemporary movies from all over the world. Criterion’s team restores films and is curated by people who really know and love film. One can choose a movie at random and they’ll know it will be great, interesting and likely something you wouldn’t have been exposed to before.
