I’m learning Mandarin from A1. The most difficult for me in Mandarin is the hieroglyphs. They are so much different from everything I know, that I need it so badly that anything logical on them is presented to me at least sometimes. The parts of different hieroglyphs may be similar or even the same. Perhaps sometimes it’s useful to know the meaning of their parts. Another issue is that I now probably can recognize some hieroglyphs, but for sure I’m not able to write them down. I think it would be useful to show how exactly they are written. Or drawn)) Writing also would dramatically improve remembering them. One more thing is when a word consists of 2 or 3 “letters”. For instance, “hello” is “ni hao”, that is “you good”. Well, on the one hand it’s sometimes useful to understand how exactly words or concepts are formed in the language, and on the other hand, you deal with simple words twice - 1) when you learn them as they are (ni - you, hao - good), 2) when you get to know a word or a concept that consists of more simple words. Also when you learn a language, it’s a good technique to look at origins of the word, so that you remember it easier and more accurately in terms of using. So, I hope Duolingo will take all that into account. And maybe it would be useful to add short videos with people, not only Duolingo characters, saying some words and phrases.

Hello Duolingo! I appreciate your work and app. It helped me to learn English language. I didn’t know English when I was 2nd grade. Then after year my brother recommended Duolingo. I learned with fun because it is made like a game. In conclusion I can say thanks for you. However I think it needs some cool updates. There are only 4 or 5 things to buy at market. So please add new things to buy like xp boost for 10 minutes or for a whole day! If it isn’t right to you, you can add extra league shield. I think you will discover other things yourself. Thank you

Over the past five years of using your platform, your actions remained to serve to its original mission—making education accessible to everyone. You have truly accomplished great results and didn’t astray from the core. All of the features you have added only diversified the experience. Certainly, most of them are locked unless you get super/max, but it was still possible for passionate learners to study effectively without paying . Indeed, with lower pace, yet it doesn’t change the fact. However, your recent update that replaced the heart system with an energy-based model disappointed many of your users. Before, learners had five hearts, and each mistake costed one. Those who didn’t make any errors could continue learning all day. This did not only make people avoid careless mistakes but also gave them flexibility to invest more time when they were able and motivated.Now, with the energy battery system, users without a subscription are limited to solving (on average) 25–30 exercises per day. Considering that a single lesson contains about 15 exercises, this means learners can only complete (in the best course) two lessons daily. That means less than 15 minutes of study time, which, as you perfectly know, barely enough to get even a grasp of a new topic, not even talking about mastering it.This change ruined the core that made Duolingo so inclusive and empowering and limited access for those who depend on your platform the most - motivated learners without the means to pay.If Duolingo still values its founding mission of making language education accessible to everyone, then it must take this feedback seriously. The recent update has created a barrier that contradicts your original purpose. It’s not too late to reconsider.Don’t let accessibility become just another marketing slogan. Make it a reality again.

Why did you turn an educational app into something like *Brawl Stars*? Let me explain why I’m tapping on a chest three times instead of actually learning. That stuff drove me crazy in *Brawl Stars*, and here it’s completely out of place. You guys are hopeless. Add a setting to disable chests entirely. If I get a reward, it means I earned it; if I don’t, who cares? I’d rather not open chests at all—it’s a waste of time. There are way too many animations, too. Like many other adults, I don't want to waste my time on these gaming mechanics. Please add an option to disable them, or I will have to switch to your competitors.

Adding energy points instead of lives in Duolingo app is the worsest choice I saw ever. I use a free version. When I want to pass the level with legendary mark I pay 100 jewels. I started the level and paid 100 jewels, I had 19 energy points.I have completed 14 of 15, without any mistake and lose all my energy points. And the program shows me the message: you should buy a premium version, or buy for 600 jewels 25 energy points which I don't have. This attitude of the developers has undermined my trust in them. I use this app for more than 5 years😡
