I’ve been holding off writing this review as i thought my bug encounter was so severe that it would be fixed instantly. As of 18 October 2019 it has been around 2 weeks that i am unable to erase in GoodNotes 5. It’s been 3 updates since my issue started, yet no bug fixes. However, GoodNotes 5 (despite my current temporary issue) is an amazing app and crushes whatever competition may arise. Yeah i'm looking at you Notability. I've been using GoodNotes 5 for almost a year now taking university notes and this was just what i needed to go paperless and help save the environment. If you made it this far GN5 Developer, i have a feature suggestion:Collaboration within GoodNotes 5 with other users. Similar to the way multiple people can edit Google Docs, Sheets & Slides and see in real time the changes made by other people. This is in my opinion literally the only thing you need to be perfect. (I love the latest lazer pointer feature by the way). How and why should you consider this? Imagine sitting in a university lecture where the lectures speaks way faster than what you can write, draw or even think. But luckily my best friend next to me is able to fill in the gaps i may have missed, while i am drawing the format for ___ , he/she can start filling in the values so that we save time and jot down as much of what we just learned. Or in another scenario, my classmate is out sick, but fear not they will not miss anything if they have access to the notes i took today without me sharing it, it's just there.Hope it’s something worth your consideration! I use this app every day as a student. Goodnotes 5 was hands-down the best note taking app on the market. It was simple yet sophisticated. Everything ran smoothly, it felt great to write on, and the tools did exactly what they needed to do. Recently, Goodnotes 6 came out, but not as a brand new app. It is replacing Goodnotes 5. I opted for the free trial, and was really not impressed. The AI tools are limited, to say the least. The math conversion is incredibly inaccurate. The erase by pencil scribble means you can’t colour anything in, so I immediately deactivated the feature. The other upgrades, such as multi-coloured folders, are insignificant. None of this warrants the hefty price increase that comes with Goodnotes 6, and as a loyal customer I feel betrayed that Goodnotes 5 support will no longer be available (I can still downgrade and use it, but development will halt). When I paid once off for the app a year ago, I was not prepared to have to pay triple that amount (with discount) for a clunky app that doesn’t do what it promises. I understand a minor price increase to once-off payments down the line, as long as the updated product performs, but this feels distasteful. I hope that the management and developers of Goodnotes will revise their decision, because I know that people are very unhappy with the current state of things.

I was looking for a well round notepad app that could be easy to navigate and could export flies in commonly used file types such as pdf. I don’t usually write reviews but this the app I use the most on my device! Really great product!! 100% recommend for anyone who is trying to keep notes for work , school and projects. Also great for writers and artists. *EDIT* So I dunno who’s idea it was to change good notes into a subscription based service for the update. I already bought the app at a reasonable price. I tried good notes 6 and honestly it didn’t add anything for me . When I tried to use the app while it was still on good notes 6 it locked all my documents, trying to get me to pay for the new feature I don’t want. So I downgraded back to good notes 5 so I could access my documents again. Why should I have to pay for having access to my multiple docs twice??? Good notes 6 wanted me to pick only 3 notebooks to have access to but I already paid for that feature in good notes 5 why should I pay again with good notes 6? When I saw that the upgrade was subscription based I was really disappointed. Even more disappointed to find that there is a once off payment but that it’s like triple what I originally paid. Feels like this app sold its soul for more money.

I am an engineering student and have been using GoodNotes for the last 2 years. It completely changed the way take notes and has improved my efficiency of note taking tremendously. The writing experience is great and the “folder like” system of organizing work makes it very easy to organize your files just as you would like. Simple - but it works. I have some suggestions regarding the note taking interface: 1. It would be great if users could add more color options to the quick access ribbon rather than just the maximum of 3, since note taking often involves the use of several colors. The same goes for the writing thickness. At the moment users are limited to 3 presets of which they could change. It would be great if users could add up to 5 color options and line thicknesses in the quick access ribbon without having to go into the color settings every time. There seems to be plenty of space in the quick access ribbon bar - especially in landscape mode - of which most note-taking is done. 2. Sticky notes: At the moment stickies are basically just images that you write over. It would be great if they could collapse and then when you click on them, they would expand/ pop-up and show the writing/ info.I really hope these could be implemented - mainly the quick access color options ! Please at least the option to add more than 3 colors in the ribbon !Thanks !

I’ve been a longtime fan of GoodNotes and recently upgraded to GoodNotes 6. Overall, it’s still one of the best note-taking apps out there, but there are a few frustrating issues that really need attention.1.Handwriting-to-Text Recognition Needs Improvement – When converting handwriting to text, the tool doesn’t recognise in-sentence capitalisation. If I write a brand name or a proper noun with a capital letter in the middle of a sentence, it automatically converts it to lowercase. Having to go back and manually fix this with the keyboard is time-consuming and frustrating.2.Object Alignment – There’s no way to align multiple text boxes or objects to one another (e.g., centering them or making sure they are in a straight line). This feels like a missing basic feature that would really improve usability.3.Glitches When Deleting Content – Sometimes, when deleting a lot of handwritten notes or drawings on a page, remnants of those elements remain, even though they should be gone. It creates a messy and inconsistent experience.4.Catering to Professional Users – It’s clear GoodNotes 6 is heavily focused on students, but many professionals use this as their primary note-taking tool, replacing traditional notebooks. It would be great if the team considered corporate, business, and adult users more when rolling out features and improvements.I love the app and use it daily, but these issues make workflow less smooth than it should be. I hope the GoodNotes team can address them in future updates!

I’m a 3rd year engineering student studying at the University of the Witwatersrand and I recently started using my iPad to take notes and mannn studying has never been so easy. Love love the efficiency of the app it has a lot of cool features and I like how I can easily put diagrams and pictures on my notes. It really helps with memory retention. It also has a cool feature for making flash cards that you can practice. It’s really cool. I 100% recommend Good notes. Love it. 🇿🇦And the fee was only a once off payment. It’s really worth it. If you’re an engineering student like me and you have tones of notes and concepts to learn this is the perfect app for you. ❤️

So I downloaded Goodnotes and have used for a few months before hearing of notability and then starting using the two apps to see how different they were from each other and which is better.First of all pricing….Goodnotes offers a once off payment which is extremely student friendly and you never have to worry about paying to use it this once off payment comes with unlimited note books and that’s okay for someone just using it for school and nothing else It’s so easy to navigate and keeps everything stored in your iCloud helping you access your work from any device.Their biggest downfall is paying for everything else💀With notability you pay a subscription once every year and everything else from notebooks to stickers to planners is free and with Goodnotes everything else has to be paid for which is pricey so it depends who is using it but I definitely prefer notability because I like pink and aesthetic things and don’t want to keep paying for every pink thing I want.For the standard student who is not interested in aesthetics (Goodnotes is the way)For people like myself who like cute things and don’t want to keep for every cute thing they want (Notability is your bff)

This app made me passionate about taking notes. I’m a dude with pretty messy notes but since getting this app my notes have actually become quite pretty since switching from pen and paper. Truly inspiring. So happy to see the audio recording & sync feature added to this app. It would be amazing to see a feature in future where you can create expandable and collapsible notes. I.e. you write a definition and then add a little dot next to it, then when you tap on the dot it expands into a note window with more information. This would allow users to maximise their note space. Otherwise, love it!!

I love this app, but I have a suggestion or two: 1. Add a place within the app where one can report bugs2. I want to report that some of my hand writing disappears if it’s too ‘cursive’ or flowy, it gets recognised as a scribble. So maybe fine tune the feature that you can “erase” or deletes handwritten stuff with scribbling over it, maybe make it not so sensitive. CollarNote has this function and it never recognised my handwriting was to be deleted. It’s quite frustrating losing half a word every third word I write. This commonly occurs, and also my hand written letters sometimes flash. This app is still great and I agree that it needs quite a few of the “Frequently requested features for Goodnotes 6”. This app can only get better.

Just want to let everyone know how amazing the app is and how cheap the premium is for a whole year. I’ve tried so many apps similar but haven’t seen one as easy to operate and budget friendly. The only complaint I have is the lack of diverse languages such as Hebrew, Afrikaans and a few others which has been a bit of an irritation as the app will try correct you with another language. Also please can you look into adding a maths or science option for notes as I use this app in my science classes and the symbols are often underlined in red. Hope this is fixed and I recommend this app strongly
