Forest: Focus for Productivity
Ratings & Reviews
i personally find it really hard to escape procrastination especially for assignments/study. i always end up scrolling on tiktok for an hour and get nothing done, or texting my friends and getting distracted on social media. The custom motivation sentences when you open your phone really helps (especially when there’s only a small amount of time left on your timer). what usually takes me 4 hours to sit down and get to the end point only takes 2 max and i get more done & feel productive. couldn’t recommend more if your a procrastinator
Just bought it tonight and am really loving the user interface. I have had apps like Forest before but what I liked particularly about the Forest App is that it’s much more easy to organise the tasks that you’ve focused on. There are tags that you can create and label like “Maths” or “Reading”. I don’t think the price is fair though. You have access to two or three trees to plant initially. The rest require a purchase through the in-game coins that can be earned through time spent focusing. Other apps that i have had were completely and all of the plants were free. Other than that, this will be one of my go-to focus apps.
Most of us can relate that it’s so hard to actually START studying and focusing especially since we have so much technology around us and we’re glued to our phones 24/7. This is the very first app that I bought in the App Store and I do not regret it one bit because although it’s hard to start, when you actually do, you don’t want to kill your tree and the forest doesn’t look as nice when there’s wilted trees! Every time I hear the notification of my tree being fully grown I just get so excited to see it. Great way to motivate people and actually focus without using their phones!
I’m quickly approaching my Leaving Cert and downloaded this app because I realised I often pick up my phone too much while trying to study. I was skeptical at first, but it’s great! I enjoy seeing the visuals of all the plants in my forest as a result of my study sessions, and earning coins through the time spent motivates me to keep studying so I can earn enough coins for a new plant to add. It’s rewarding because I’m both preparing for my exams and I get to buy more plants! There’s nice motivational messages that pop up when you pick up your phone/open the app, and you can even add some yourself.I no longer pick up my phone, to avoid withering the plants, and it’s a good habit to have picked up. Although, there is the option to allow certain apps if you know you may need to use them. Overall, I’m satisfied with what the app offers for the price! I hope to continue using it for other activities once my Leaving Cert is over :)
This app is one of the most useful I have, I used it through my final year in college and now use it as I work from home. You can unlock new trees to plant the more time you spend off your phone, and I’ve got my screen time down from 8 hours (terrible I know) to 4, which for me is a huge win. They’re also always updating the app and improving it, even down to the graphics. It’s an app I’ll always recommend as it’s easy to use and a good way of breaking the habit of constantly being on your phone. 5 stars ⭐️
I was reluctant to purchase at first, but it was 100% a brilliant decision! The fact that I paid for the app further pushed me to make use of the app, and the calming interface genuinely encourages me to knuckle down and get some work done. I also use this as a habit tracker for self-care activities eg. meditation & writing. I love the way the stats allow me to record what I’m doing every day, down to the specific topics and how well I know them. Really motivating me to solidify focused study and positive habits into my long-term routine! An amazing and super flexible app! Only wish the Whitelist was available on iOS and that you could plant more than 5 real trees (especially when it’s at such a high cost!)
This app is great because it’s totally tailored to your own personal goals. Whether you want to stay focused for 10 mins or 2 hours at a time, it’s entirely up to you and either way you get your own tree afterwards. I’m a leaving cert student and I often wanted to study for hours upon hours but kept getting distracted. I now study 30 mins at a time with 5 minute breaks and this app even has a nice meditation session to use during breaks. Definitely worth it, love this app!
Developer ResponseThank you so much for this wonderful review! We're thrilled that Forest is helping you stay focused on your studies and that you've found the perfect rhythm with 30-minute sessions. It's great to hear you're also enjoying Mindful Space during your breaks. Best of luck with your Leaving Cert preparation!Forest Team
HONEST REVIEW…Forest is worth the small price you pay for it. It’s such a simple and easy app to understand, better than any free app that’s similar to it. This is the only app that motivates me to do my work. I am autistic, and because of that I find it very hard. to focus on something for a long time unless I’m interested in it. I’m very interested in botany, so that’s another plus. It motivates me to grow my forest. I use Forest for a number of things, study, homework, and even reading! Or if I just need a break from my phone.
Great fan and user of the app. I use it on an iPad and it’s really frustrating the way it doesn’t work landscape and only portrait. Would it be possible if this is in the next update?? Hi thanks so much for the reply!! If the whole app could be in landscape as well as portrait it would be a great help because the way most iPads stand up are landscape, I do sometimes use split screen but not often as I have deep focus mode on. I really appreciate the reply!!! :)))
Developer ResponseHi, sorry for the inconvenience. Could you please answer the following questions to help us develop the feature? Which page do you need the landscape mode for? Do you use split screen? Thank you! have a good day.
Forest was the first app I ever paid for on the app store, as I was always hesitant about getting apps that weren’t free. However as soon as I downloaded Forest I realised I had made a great decision! Forest has encouraged me to put my phone down and study for school and college exams for the past 3 years. I am competitive and enjoy trying to beat my own record for how many trees i can grow in a week! I would recommend this app to anyone struggling with Social media distractions and procrastination in general! Only criticism is I wish I there was more background noise options!
