Amali Cooray

Amali Cooray completed her PhD at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute. Her research focused on using advanced gene engineering techniques (CRISPR) and bioinformatic tools to identify tumour promoting genes in blood cancers. She now works as a marketing and fundraising officer at the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute, using her scientific background and communications experience to communicate research impact and build community support for cancer research. She has given scientific talks, tours and demonstrations to students, donors, and members of the public, and believes science should be accessible to everyone.
