Dr Adam de Paor-Evans is an ethnomusicologist, educator, author, and spatial and cultural theorist, focusing on the hidden aspects of music cultures and their representation. He previously held the title of Reader in Ethnomusicology at UCLan. He runs the research project: 'RHYTHM OBSCURA: Revealing Hidden Histories through Ethnomusicology, Spatio-material Culture, Theory and Praxes', and is also interested in the relationships between the intertextuality and intangibility of music cultures, reifications, space, artefacts, personal histories, and representational devices. In addition to many journal articles and guest chapters, he has published three books entitled: 'HIP HOP IN THE STICKS: A Deepening Context' (Squagle House, 2023), 'PROVINCIAL HEADZ: British Hip Hop and Critical Regionalism' (Equinox Publishers Ltd., 2020), and 'SCRATCHING THE SURFACE: Hip Hop, Remoteness, and Everyday Life' (Squagle House, 2020), and the forthcoming 'HIP HOP IN THE STICKS: A Deepening Context'. He produces HEADZ-zINe, a bi-annual practice-research zine and continues to write and practice intersecting spatio-material culture and their praxes, oral and recorded history and ethnomusicology.
