Aishwarya Lakshmi

Aishwarya Lakshmi received her Ph.D. in English Literature from the University of Chicago. Her disciplinary focus is nineteenth and early twentieth century British India, postcolonial literature and theory. She is currently the Executive Director of Rice University's Boniuk Institute for the Study and Advancement of Religious Tolerance, where she leads strategetic initiatives on behalf of the institute. She was previously an Assistant Professor of English at Hamilton College and Program Director at the Women's, Gender, & Sexuality Program/Institute for Research on Women,Gender & Sexuality at the University of Houston.

She has published in academic peer-reviewed journals and edited book volumes.
