Alex Borgella

Dr. Alex Borgella is an associate professor of Psychology and director of the Social Perception Experimentation (SPEx) Lab at Fort Lewis College. He was trained in social psychology at Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts, concentrating on the social-cognitive underpinnings of stereotyping, prejudice, and discrimination. His work involves factors that impact members of stigmatized social groups (e.g., racial minority groups, sexual and gender minority groups, and people with obesity), most recently concentrating on how new and emerging technologies (e.g., AI tools) affect these processes.

His research has been published in outlets such as The Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, The Journal of Social Psychology, Psychology of Sport and Exercise, and Humor: The International Journal of Humor Research, and he has been featured in media outlets such as The APA Monitor, Vice, Psychology Today, Quartz Magazine, and Gizmodo.
