Alice Kolasa

Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Elder Aunty Alice Kolasa is a descendant of the Terrick family line through her grandmother Jemima Jessie Wandin and Wurundjeri apical Ancestor Annie Borate, known as the sister of William Barak, at Coranderrk Aboriginal Station.

Aunty Alice is Director on the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation board and sits on a number of sub-committees that guide the work of the corporation protecting and preserving Country and cultural heritage. She holds the title of Reception Manager, leading the work on the annual report, and Wirrigirri ("Messenger") newsletter.

Aunty Alice is co-chair of the Victorian NAIDOC committee and was the first Aboriginal woman to speak language in the House of Parliament in 2017 for the Wilip gin Birrarung murron Act, which enshrined into legislation the Yarra River as a living entity.
