Alistair Harvey

I have over 25 years’ experience working in Education, Indigenous Sports, Recreation and Health fields, having a Bachelor of Arts in Leisure Management and a Bachelor of Education. I've worked in Central Australian Aboriginal communities, Torres Strait Island communities, Kimberley Aboriginal communities and South East Queensland communities, working for state and commonwealth government departments, community organisations, research institutes and Universities. I'm of Saibai Island descent and have been Chief Investigator for the ARC Discovery Indigenous research project ‘Saibai Island Language and Cultural Knowledge Project’, where I was awarded a ‘Discovery Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Award’ (DAATSIA). I am a Partner Investigator on the ARC Discovery project (DP230102268: 2023-2025) titled “Torres Strait Islander History: Sport, Culture and Identity”. I am also completing PhD studies at The University of Queensland, documenting a cultural framework of Saibai Island.
