Amy Leigh Johnson

Dr. Amy Leigh Johnson's research interests are at the intersection of environment and political change, with a focus on disaster, the state, territoriality, and conflict. She has conducted long-term ethnographic fieldwork in Nepal and has emerging research in the Appalachian Mountains of the US South. She has published on the territorial politics of Nepal's post-conflict constitution writing process, migration and settler-Indigenous dynamics in Nepal, regional development and environmental change, and the negotiation, knowledge, and governance of cascading mountain hazards in the Himalayas.
