Andrew Gleadow is an Emeritus Professor of Earth Sciences and former Head of the School of Earth Sciences at the University of Melbourne. He has worked extensively in the field of geological dating and has been a pioneer in developing fission track methods for reconstructing the temperature history of the continental crust. He has also worked in dating hominid fossil sites in East Africa and over the last six years he has led the Kimberley Rock Art Dating project adapting various radiometric methods to dating the Aboriginal rock art of the Kimberley region in NW Australia.
