Anna Stein

I am a museum and heritage researcher working on Korean culture, exhibitions, and global heritage practices. My research focuses on how national identity is constructed and communicated through museums and cultural programmes, with particular attention to South Korea. Alongside my doctoral research in Museum Studies, I have worked professionally across museums, heritage organisations, and cultural education projects in the UK and Europe, translating academic research into public-facing interpretation, exhibitions, and learning programmes.

More recently, my work has expanded to examine how Korean culture circulates internationally through exhibitions, cultural centres, festivals, and everyday cultural forms such as food, fashion, and housing. I am currently developing the Global Korean Culture Network, an independent research project that documents patterns in how Korean culture is presented abroad and how contemporary culture increasingly functions as heritage. Across both academic and public writing, I am interested in the intersection between heritage, popular culture, and everyday life, and in making research on museums and cultural policy accessible to wider audiences.
