Carley Bartlett

Carley Bartlett is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Faculty of Law and Justice, University of New South Wales. Her research investigates how sociotechnical conflicts arise at the interface of law, science and technology. Carley completed her PhD at UNSW Sydney in 2024. Her thesis explored how PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) contamination has emerged as a legal, social and technical controversy in Australia over the last decade.

Carley holds undergraduate degrees in law and environmental science from Flinders University, and has previously worked as an environment and planning lawyer in Sydney, as tipstaff to the Chief Judge of the Land and Environment Court of NSW, and as a researcher at an environmental NGO.
