Christopher Ramezan

Dr. Christopher Ramezan is currently an Assistant Professor of Cybersecurity and Management Information Systems in the John Chambers College of Business and Economics at West Virginia University where he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on data communications, cybersecurity, cyber analytics and machine learning, information assurance risk management, and industrial control system security. He is also the Executive Director of the Cyber-Resilience Resource Center, and the Program Coordinator of the Master of Science in Business Cybersecurity Management program.

Ramezan's research interests include security architecture, federated machine learning approaches for cyber event detection in industrial control systems, cybersecurity workforce development and industry best practices, as well as applying machine learning and deep learning methods on multispectral and hyperspectral satellite imagery to solve remote sensing and geospatial problem sets. His research has been published in a variety of top journals including Computers & Security, Journal of Cybersecurity, Education, Research, and Practice, Journal of Information Systems Education, Journal of Photogrammetric Engineering and Remote Sensing, and Transactions in GIS, among others.

He is also an award-winning researcher and educator, including the West Virginia Educator of the Year by the West Virginia American Legion, and the West Virginia University Foundation Award for Outstanding Teaching, in addition to numerous other awards of distinction in teaching and service. Prior to joining academia, he also worked in the IT and cybersecurity field for nearly 10 years. He possesses a PhD specializing in Remote Sensing, and holds over 20 industry cybersecurity certifications including the CISSP, CISM, CASP, and CDPSE.
