Claire Greenwell

I am an ornithologist and marine ecologist with primary interests in seabirds and shorebirds, trophic ecology, and applied research towards sustainable ecosystem use and biological conservation. I have completed a PhD exploring the breeding chronology, behaviour, and ecology of the Australian Fairy Tern. This research is now being used to underpin management and conservation efforts for this Vulnerable species. As convener of the Western Australian Fairy Tern Network, I provide technical advice to coastal land and wildlife management agencies and the broader community to improve breeding success at tern colonies. I work closely with the New Zealand Department of Conservation, providing strategic and technical advice to the Tara iti (Fairy Tern) Recovery Programme.
