Craig Bailie is a former defence civilian and lecturer in Political Science at the Stellenbosch University School for Security and Africa Studies. His ongoing research interests include democratization, civil-military relations, political leadership, civic education and political theology.

Craig holds a Master's degree in International Studies from Rhodes University (2009) and a certificate in Thought Leadership for Africa's Renewal from the Thabo Mbeki African Leadership Institute (2017). He is a graduate of the Young African Leaders' Initiative (Midrand, 2017) and a delegate of the Young Diplomats Forum (Brussels, 2019) and the Wilberforce Academy (Oxford, 2019). He is presently pursuing a doctoral degree in Strategic Leadership.
