Cyrille D’Haese

Cyrille D’Haese is a renowned systematist and phylogeneticist specializing in Collembola, a key group at the base of hexapods. After obtaining his PhD with the highest distinction at the National Museum of Natural History (MNHN) in Paris in 2000, he continued his research as a postdoctoral fellow at the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) in New York, thanks to a NASA grant. Under the supervision of Ward Wheeler, he worked on the molecular phylogeny of hexapods and high-performance computing, consolidating his expertise at the interface of evolutionary biology and advanced technologies.
Since 2002, Cyrille D'Haese has been a research fellow at the CNRS and curator of the Apterygotes collections at the MNHN. His work focuses on the phylogenetic relationships, systematics, and evolution of springtails, combining molecular and morphological approaches to shed light on fundamental questions, such as the dating of major evolutionary nodes or the impact of key events (such as the Cretaceous-Tertiary boundary or the radiation of angiosperms). He is also interested in Gondwanan biogeography, species delimitation, and genomic interactions between springtails and Wolbachia bacteria, particularly in the context of induced parthenogenesis.
