Daniel Sims

I taught History and Indigenous Studies for five years (2015-2020) as a tenure track assistant professor at the University of Alberta - Augustana Campus.

I am a member of the Tsay Keh Dene First Nations and currently teach First Nations Studies at the University of Northern British Columbia, where many of my courses are cross-listed with history. In the past, I was interim academic co-lead of the National Collaborating Centre for Indigenous Health.

My research focuses on northern British Columbia with a transnational perspective. Given the complicated history of Indigenous peoples in British Columbia as well as ongoing land claims my approach also in incorporates the law, environmental and economic history of Canada and British Columbia.
