Danilo Giacometti

I am a Brasilian comparative physiologist, currently a São Paulo Research Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow at Universidade de São Paulo, Brasil. I am interested in understanding how organisms respond to environmental variation on spatial and temporal scales. I focus on features that are vital to organismal functioning, such as energetics, hydroregulation, and thermoregulation. I am particularly interested in studying the evolution of behavioural and physiological aspects to better understand adaptations and predict how organisms will respond to environmental change. To answer my questions, I use fieldwork, laboratory experiments, and also computational tools. Vertebrate ectotherms are my main study system, with a special emphasis on amphibians and non-avian reptiles.
