Deborah Gleeson is a Professor of Public Health in the School of Psychology and Public Health at La Trobe University where she leads the discipline of Health Practice and Management and teaches postgraduate subjects in health policy and health law.

Deborah's research focuses on public health policy, particularly at national and international levels and the interface between these levels. Her primary interest area is the implications of international trade agreements for public health, pharmaceutical policy and access to medicines.

Professor Gleeson was co-convener of the Public Health Association of Australia's (PHAA) Political Economy of Health Special Interest Group from 2008-2025 and a PHAA Board Member from 2022-25. She has been a Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Q1 international journal Globalization and Health since November 2025.
