Elsa Noterman

Elsa Noterman is an Assistant Professor at the University of Nottingham. Her scholarship attends to questions that emerge at the intersection of urban geography, law, property, the racialization of space, and the politics of land and housing justice. Her writing has appeared in Urban Geography, Antipode, Annals of the American Association of Geographers, Environment and Planning D: Society and Space, Social & Legal Studies, among other journals.

Since 2021, Noterman has been working on a public humanities project called Reparative Geographies with fellow geographer Sara Safransky and students. The Reparative Geographies Project seeks to enhance understandings of the spatial imaginaries of land and property politics that surround municipal and local-level efforts to reckon with the legacies of enslavement, colonialism, and racial segregation.
