I am a Radio Astronomer based at the University of Leeds, researching filamentary structures in our Galaxy. I did my PhD at the Jodrell Bank Centre for Astrophysics at the University of Manchester, where my previous research interests included astrophysical magnetism and radio galaxies.
I also have a keen interest in hands-on optical astronomy, and ways to make astronomy accessible to everyone. This has lead to my work with Muslim community groups regarding the visibility of new crescent Moons, the key to determining months in the Islamic Calendar.
