Feinuo Sun

Dr. Feinuo Sun is a demographer, sociologist, and population health scholar in the Department of Kinesiology who studies how social determinants, especially demographic and socioeconomic characteristics and contextual environments, shape population health disparities. Her research addresses under-explored problems about contemporary and critical public health concerns such as the opioid crisis, chronic pain and disability, the COVID-19 epidemic, and cardiovascular health, using data at both the individual and ecological levels. Her academic contributions appear in Social Science & Medicine, Journal of Gerontology: Social Sciences, Annals of Epidemiology, and other outlets. Before joining UTA, she was a postdoctoral fellow at the Global Aging and Community Initiative, Mount Saint Vincent University on an NIH-funded grant "Demography of Chronic Pain." She earned her Ph.D. from the University at Albany in Sociology with a graduate certificate in Demography.
