Gaby Hansen

Gaby earned her Bachelor of Architectural Technology degree at Cape Peninsula of Science and Technology. She then worked in the industry for several architectural firms as senior Architectural Technologist before embarking on the academic journey. She joined the Department of Architecture and Spatial Planning in 2011 as a Junior lecturer. She obtained her Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture (Profession) with merits, at the University of Cape Town, 2016.

Gaby's Research Focus Areas are Participatory Design and Planning, Landscape Architecture and Urbanism

She teaches Architectural Design, Presentation Techniques, Architectural Draughting, Landscape Studies, Landscape and Context and Work Integrated Learning to undergraduate students.

At a postgraduate level, Gaby teaches Environmental Design and Technology and Applied Urban Ecology.

Gaby is involved in these Community Development Activities: Informal settlement upgrading_ Gobabis, the Green Infrastructure and Urban Biodiversity for Sub-Saharan Africa manual, and is also a Netball coach.
