Gian Carlo Delgado Ramos

Full-time researcher at the Institute of Geography and at the Center for Interdisciplinary Research on the Sciences and Humanities, both of the National Autonomous University of Mexico. He holds the highest level of productivity within Mexico’s National System of Researchers (level III). He is also a member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences since 2017. He is a Coordinating Lead Author on the IPCC Special Report on Climate Change and Cities. Previously, he was involved as Lead Author in the IPCC’s AR5 WGIII report and as Review Editor in the AR6 WGII report. He coordinates the UCCRN – Urban Climate Change Research Network hub in Mexico City and is a member of the Executive Committee of the Mexican Network of Scientists for Climate (www.redcic.mx). He is a member of the Advisory Committee of Innovate4Cities Conference 2026 (www.innovate4cities.org/conference-2026). He was rapporteur of the Multidisciplinary Expert Scientific Advisory Group of the 7th cycle of UNEP’s Global Environmental Outlook. His main lines of research are focused on urban metabolism and urban circularity, urban governance and local capacity building, and urban climate and environmental policy evaluation.
