Haoyang (Stan) Xie

Haoyang (Stan) Xie is a researcher specializing in development economics and political economy, with a focus on state capacity, foreign investment, and sustainability in Africa. Stan is pursuing a Ph.D. in Kenneth C. Griffin Department of Economics at The University of Chicago, where he also earned an M.A. from Harris School of Public Policy. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Peking University, China.

Stan brings extensive research experience in both academic and policy-focused environments. He previously worked as a Research Professional at the Becker Friedman Institute. Prior to that, he served as a Research Assistant at both the Harris School of Public Policy and the Energy Policy Institute at The University of Chicago, collaborating on data-driven policy evaluations and economic analysis.
