Ilham Akhsanu Ridlo is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Airlangga, Indonesia, and a doctoral researcher at the Institut für Kommunikationswissenschaft und Medienforschung (IfKW), Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) München. He views science communication as essential for bridging the gap between research practices and the implementation of health policy. His research examines how scientists and journalists influence decision-makers’ understanding of scientific uncertainty.

He serves on the advisory board of The Indonesian Journal of Health Administration (IJHA) and is a member of the National Association of Science Writers (NASW). He actively contributes to the media and founded the Indonesian Science Communication Labs (IDSCL). He writes popular science columns, campaigns for the Open Science movement in Indonesia, and advocates for Open Access (OA) journal policies. He publishes regularly on his blog, ScienceWatchdog.id, and is also involved in the Society of Indonesian Science Journalists (SISJ).
