Jack Hewton is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow specialising in Economics at Curtin University. His research primarily focuses on aspects of housing and exploring themes related to precarious housing. In particular, considering aspects such as forced mobility, unaffordable housing, unsuitable housing and even the surrounding neighbourhood. He has investigated how these aspects affect wellbeing, what drives transitions into and out of these aspects and how rental assistance can protect the vulnerable from these aspects.
Jack's doctoral studies as Curtin University focused on the relationship between precarious housing, rental assistance and wellbeing, for which he was awarded the 2024 Peter Barrington Gold Medal Award for research excellence in the study of land economy.
