Dr James Bradley is a Lecturer in the History of Medicine and Life Sciences in the School of Historical and Philosophical Studies at the University of Melbourne. He is currently researching a history of the nervous system while teaching subjects on Darwin and the history of psychiatry. He started a life as an historian of sport: his PhD “Cricket, Class and Colonialism” was awarded by the University of Edinburgh in 1991. Before emigrating to Australia he held a series of positions at the Wellcome Unit for the History of Medicine, University of Glasgow.
