Javier Escudero is senior lecturer at the Institute for Digital Communications in the School of Engineering of the University of Edinburgh, where he leads a research group on the development of new signal processing techniques to interpret various kinds of physiological and clinical data.

In addition to his academic career, Javier served as member of the Board of Directors of the Society of Spanish Researchers in the United Kingdom for over 4 years, and he was elected its President during the term 2018/19. He was also elected as President of the Network of Spanish Researchers Abroad during 2018/19. He is a member of the Royal Society of Edinburgh's Young Academy of Scotland.
