My PhD research seeks to develop a more nuanced understanding of young Bangladeshi women’s characteristics, aspirations, and opportunities. The project applies a critical feminist and intersectional political economy perspective, employing a sequential explanatory mixed methods approach. Quantitative analysis of labour force survey and time use survey data will identify the characteristics of young women’s experience both inside and outside the labour force. Qualitative fieldwork will complement the quantitative findings to elucidate the factors that shape young women’s aspirations and agency.
