Kathryn Eastwood

Kathryn has been an operational Intensive Care Paramedic for 25 years, Registered Nurse (Division 1) for 22 years and an academic at Monash University since 2003. She was a Senior Lecturer educating paramedics, nurses, medical students and military personnel for almost 15 years before accepting a Research Fellow position in the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine. Kathryn now holds an Associate Professor position at the School of Nursing & Midwifery at Monash University.

She is a leading researcher in prehospital patient care and health services research, and has a strong record of engaging in interdisciplinary and international teams to work collaborative to produce high quality research that is directly used to change educational and clinical practice.

Kathryn is a member of the Education, Implementation and Teams (EIT) Task Force on the International Liaison Committee On Resuscitation (ILCOR) and a member of the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) where the evidence base is established and interpreted into guidelines informing patient care in healthcare setting globally.

She conducts a broad range of research on topics including resuscitation practices and education, engagement of culturally and linguistically diverse populations with health services, and non-pharmacological pain management using distraction techniques for paediatric patients.
