Kay Ritchie

Psychology
My research is focused on face recognition. I publish research regularly on the topics of face identification, face learning, and face perception more broadly. I am a member of the Experimental Psychology Society committee and sit on the British Psychological Society's research board.
My research interests span three areas:
1. Face recognition and identification
2. The use of automatic face recognition technology, particularly in criminal justice
3. Social information conveyed in faces

Science Communication
I communicate science in different ways:
1. Public engagement with research - engaging the public through initiatives such as Pint of Science, stage shows and science festivals
2. Media engagement - I regularly speak on BBC Radio, particularly on the topic of facial recognition use in law security settings
3. Working with policymakers - I have worked with local and national policymakers to strengthen relationships between the university and local government (for example through my previous work as Director of the Policy Hub at the University of Lincoln), and I regularly engage with national policymakers through formal and informal channels
