Kim Walker

I am an interdisciplinary researcher with a background in science and currently studying the history of medicine. I am interested in botanical sources of medicines and am undertaking a PhD on the history of quinine drug development in the world's largest cinchona bark collection found in the Economic Botany Department of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. My work there is partnered with Royal Holloway, University of London. I am also the author of 'Just the tonic: A natural history of tonic water' (Kew Publishing, 2019).

I am funded by AHRC through the Techne Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) supported by the National Productivity Investment Fund (NPIF).
