Laura Carvalho

Laura Carvalho is a renowned Brazilian economist, Associate Professor of Economics at the University of São Paulo, and Director of Economic and Climate Prosperity at Open Society Foundations. She is also a founding member of the Research Center on Macroeconomics of Inequalities (Made), based at the University of São Paulo. Besides publishing academic papers in numerous journals, Laura also acted as a weekly columnist for Brazilian newspaper Folha de S. Paulo. She is also the author of the best-selling book “Valsa Brasileira: do boom ao caos econômico” on the rise and fall of the Brazilian economy, published in Brazil in 2018.
