I am a historian of modern France and Europe, with particular interests in visual culture and memory, history and representation. My most recent book, 'The Republican Line: Caricature and French Republican Identity, 1830-52' was published by Manchester University Press in 2015. My current project explores cinematic and theatrical representations of Napoleon Bonaparte.
