Lee Biggerstaff

Lee Biggerstaff is the Armco Alumni Professor and Associate Professor of Finance at Miami University’s Farmer School of Business. He joined Miami University in 2014 after completing his Ph.D. in Finance at the University of Tennessee. He also holds an M.B.A. and B.S. from Appalachian State University.

Professor Biggerstaff’s research focuses on corporate finance and corporate governance, with particular attention to how executives influence corporate outcomes. His work examines topics such as insider trading, executive compensation, managerial behavior, corporate investment, and firms’ financial information environments. His research has been published in leading academic journals including the Journal of Financial Economics, Management Science, Journal of Corporate Finance, Contemporary Accounting Research, and the Journal of Management.

At Miami University, Professor Biggerstaff teaches courses in corporate finance and corporate governance. Before entering academia, he worked as a Senior Associate at Mesirow Financial Consulting. His research and teaching have been recognized with several honors, including Miami University’s Prodesse Quam Conspici Award and the James Robison Junior Faculty Research Excellence Award.
